Cooking Ideas –
Rinse and drain raw rice before cooking. To cook, use 1 and 1/2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. The rice can be steamed or cooked in a rice cooker. Bring to a boil. Then simmer on low heat 30 minutes. Do not stir. Turn off heat and leave the lid on for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. This rice retains much of its natural bran and therefore cooks in a similar way to brown rice. For the lowest Glycemic Index (54-56) cook in a rice cooker. Do not cook in a microwave because this will cause the Glycemic Index to be higher.
